2018 Lincoln MKZ vs Cadillac ATS: Performance Specs

It's hard to deny the thrill of hitting the accelerator and really feeling your car come to life. In sedans of this size, you might not be expecting a huge response. However, both the ATS and the MKZ are sure to surprise.

The Cadillac ATS comes with a couple different engine options. There's a turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain, as well as a 3.6L V6. Undoubtedly, the V6 is the more powerful of the two, producing 335 HP and 285 lb-ft of torque.

Of course, this seems to fall short of the MKZ, which also offers a turbocharged 4-cylinder and V6. Its twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder pushes the envelope with 350 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque.

The MKZ also has another option: the hybrid. This fuel-efficient powertrain isn't something you'll find in the Cadillac ATS.

A Comfortable & Luxurious Interior

Big power is important. However, in a luxury vehicle most drivers are also expecting some major amenities and comforts.

The 2018 Lincoln MKZ rolls ahead of the ATS right out of the gate with its more spacious cabin. In this sedan, you'll have 96.6 cubic feet of passenger space, as well as a 15.4-cubic foot trunk. In the ATS, you'll only have a 10.4-cubic foot trunk and a 91-cubic foot cabin.

Space isn't the only edge that the MKZ has, interior-wise. While it shares many amenities and gadgets with the ATS, it also offers a couple exclusive features.

Perhaps the biggest, alongside its updated media bin with SD card reader, is the Lincoln Connect system. This feature allows you to control your vehicle with the use of an app. You can fiddle with climate controls, locate your vehicle, and turn it into a mobile hotspot - all remotely!

Unfortunately, you won't have any mobile app controls in the Cadillac ATS.

MKZ vs ATS: Safety Features

In terms of standard safety technologies, the MKZ and the ATS do have a few commonalities. For instance, each comes with a rearview camera, as well as stability and traction controls.

These can all be helpful, but you also need a rigid body. The Cadillac ATS has 8 airbags to offer, but these don't quite compare to the Personal Safety Systemâ„¢ in the MKZ.

This system is a bit smarter than the average airbag network. It monitors the size of passengers to deploy bags accordingly. Thus, it can cut down on undue injuries caused by your vehicle's airbags.

Choosing the Right Luxury Sedan

Between the 2018 Lincoln MKZ and the Cadillac ATS, you're bound to find plenty of great technologies, comforts, and performance features. However, the MKZ just seems to come out on top, time and again.
