The Lincoln MKC is known for having a smooth ride, plus lots of features, including its advanced technologies. But would they make your drives around Cerritos, Long Beach, and Anaheim more enjoyable?
To help answer that question, our team at Norm Reeves Lincoln created this 2018 Lincoln MKC technology review. Learn more about the performance, media, and safety technology below, and contact us if you have any questions.
Performance Technology
The Lincoln MKC comes standard with a 2.0L turbocharged I-4 engine that puts out 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. There's also an available 2.3L turbocharged I-4 engine that delivers 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque.
The vehicle is available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD). With the latter, you get the Intelligent AWD system. It uses sensors to constantly monitor traction. Before wheel slip can even occur, the system will balance torque between the front and rear wheels to enhance handling and maximize traction.
The AWD model also includes Lincoln Drive Control with Adaptive Suspension. You can choose from three modes-Comfort, Normal, and Sport-to enhance your driving experience. For example, if you select Sport mode, it'll tighten the suspension tuning, firm up the steering calibration, and you'll get a more powerful engine sound inside the cabin.
Media Technology
The 2018 Lincoln MKC comes standard with a SYNC® 3 infotainment system, to help stay connected and entertained on the road. This system allows you to access your media options through either the 8-inch color LCD capacitive touchscreen or the voice recognition technology.
This system also allows you to connect your compatible smartphone to the vehicle through Apple CarPlayâ„¢ or Android Autoâ„¢. This lets you access your music playlists, podcasts, text messages, and more.
The vehicle has an available navigation system, too, that comes with a 6-year trial subscription to SiriusXM Traffic™ and Travel Link®. This system offers detailed traffic and weather information, gas station locations and fuel prices, and more.
And you'll be able to hear everything in crystal-clear quality through either the standard 9-speaker Lincoln Premium Sound System or the available enhanced 14-speaker THX II Certified Audio System.
Safety Technology
This SUV offers many driver-assisting technologies to help prevent an accident from occurring, including...
- A
ctive Park Assist: Press a button, and sensors will find an available parking space. It'll also operate the steering wheel to park for you. All you need to do is accelerate, brake, and shift gears when appropriate. - BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System): If a vehicle is detected in your blind spot, the system will warn you with a lit-up icon on the corresponding side mirror.
- Lane-Keeping System with Driver Alert:Â If you begin to unintentionally drift from your lane, the system will warn you through a subtle vibration in the steering wheel. It can also apply steering torque to get you back into your lane center.
Additionally, the Lincoln MKC comes standard with a rearview camera with guidelines to help see your surroundings when in reverse. It also comes standard with a Reverse Sensing System. It uses a number of sensors to detect objects in your path when moving backwards. A beeping sound will occur if you get near an object, and will become more rapid the closer you get.
