As you pick out your next SUV, you're definitely going to want something with the amenities and power to keep you satisfied. However, all that extra comfort should by no means compromise the more practical aspects, such as safety.Â
In this review, our team at Norm Reeves Lincoln examines both the 2017 Lincoln Navigator and the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover to discover which meets this criterion.
2017 Lincoln Navigator vs. Range Rover: Performance
Both of these SUVs are pretty big. So, naturally, you should assume that they're going to be packed with some pretty hefty powertrains.
Under the hood of the 2017 Lincoln Navigator, drivers will find a 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 engine with a direct injection fuel system. This engine regularly produces as much as 380 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
The 2017 Range Rover is a pretty brawny SUV in its own right, with its 3.0L V6 engine. However, its 340 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque output don't quite match up with the competitor.
Nevertheless, in spite of their power differences, both seem to handle exceptionally well with their available 4-wheel drive systems. You shouldn't have any trouble navigating more adventurous terrain in either vehicle.
Staying Safe While Off-Road
One thing that the Navigator and the Range Rover have in common is that they're both built for going off-road. However, while each has the handling to back them up, one seems to have more safety reinforcements than the other.
The 2017 Range Rover relies almost entirely on technology to keep passengers safe. Certainly, stability and traction controls can be a big help in preventing crashes, but how do they stand up to them?
The Range Rover hasn't been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator, with its rigid structure and Personal Safety Systemâ„¢, nabbed a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA.
2017 Lincoln Navigator vs. Range Rover: Interior
When it comes to interior comfort, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator and 2017 Range Rover do have quite a few similarities. Both seem to aim for a high sense of luxury, to start.
Leather-trimmed seating is standard in each SUV, as is 10-way power adjustments. Both of these seats are heated, too, though the Navigator adds a cooling feature to its driver's seat.Â
A unique entertainment suite can be found in both these SUVs, too. The Range Rover comes with the InControl suite, which features a multitude of apps. However, it lacks the SiriusXM® Travel and Traffic Link that you'll find in the Navigator. With this GPS system, you'll never have to worry about getting lost.
Which SUV is Right for You?
When it comes to excellent handling, the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover is a good choice. However, when you want extra power on top of that, you're going to have to choose the 2017 Lincoln Navigator.
