Lincoln Navigator vs Chevy Suburban: Performance Specs

No matter what kind of SUV you choose, power is going to be a necessity. Fortunately, both the 2018 Lincoln Navigator and the Chevrolet Suburban seem to have different approaches to generating it.

The Navigator comes equipped with a standard 3.5L twin-turbocharged direct-injection V6 engine. Thanks to its many enhancements, this engine can produce as much as 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. With all that extra torque, you'll then be able to haul up to 8,700 pounds of cargo.

Towing capacity is cut down to 6,300 pounds maximum in the Chevrolet Suburban. This is likely due to its 5.3L EcoTect3 V8 engine. While this powertrain is technically larger, it lacks the enhancements found in the competitor. For this reason, the Suburban can only produce 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque.

Safety Differences

When it comes to protecting passengers, there's a lot of disparity between the Navigator and the Suburban. These differences start with safety technology features that are offered.

The Navigator also offers standard features like the Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Trailer Sway Control. The vehicle also includes both a forward and reverse sensing system to aid these helpful safety amenities.

The Chevy Suburban lacks these features. Instead, it chooses to rely on a pricey OnStar® subscription for many of its finer safety features, leaving the SUV vulnerable.

Navigator vs Suburban: Interior Amenities

Last, but not least, immense SUVs like these need to come packed with plenty of amenities. In this respect, the Lincoln Navigator won't let you down. As a luxury SUV, it tends to go the extra mile with comfort.

Leather trim is the standard in the Navigator, with a special heated and cooled 10-way power-adjustable seat up front for drivers. You'll also have 14-speaker Revel® Audio System with avigation and traffic alerts to guide your way toward your destination.

Features such as these aren't available in the standard Suburban. It does feature a fairly comprehensive audio suite, but lacks features such as surround sound and navigation.

Treat Your Family to a More Luxurious Choice

If you're looking for the true difference between the 2018 Lincoln Navigator and the Chevrolet Suburban, the answer is luxury. Where the Navigator goes above and beyond in terms of comfort and technology, the Suburban seems to hold back.
